Karim Mawji

Implementation of event-focused special situations investment strategies is optimized by experience Mr. Mawji has gained over 20 years in operating, principal investment, and advisory roles.

Prior to launching Dentonia Park, Mr. Mawji managed the short portfolio and special situations long positions at Perennial Investors, a $350 million hedge fund. Previously, he worked at Scout Capital ($3 billion assets under management) and Morgan Stanley ($800 million internal hedge fund), where as a Portfolio Manager he focused on equity special situations investments and short positions.

Mr. Mawji began his buyside career at Healy Circle Capital, a $150 million hedge fund, where he invested in the insurance, health care and business services sectors. Prior to that, he worked at Morgan Stanley in Equity Research covering the life insurance industry.

The foundation of his investment career was built at Deloitte & Touche in the Mergers and Acquisitions/Restructurings division, where, in addition to traditional advisory roles, he operated troubled companies to turn them around.

Mr. Mawji received his MBA degree from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and a BA degree from the University of Western Ontario. He is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA® charterholder. Mr. Mawji is a graduate of Crescent School.
